Bedload transport analysis using various methods

چکیده

Mount Merapi, located between the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta, is one most active volcanoes, regularly spewing lahar material supplying sediment to surrounding rivers. These rivers are classified as volcanic some utilized irrigation water sources, flowing through densely populated areas that require construction river structures such retaining walls, bridge pillars, weirs, groundsills. Bedload transport calculation an essential part planning constructions. As bedload calculations continually evolving, scientists have developed several formulaic approaches. To determine appropriate formula, evaluating existing formulae necessary. In this study, we compared laboratory measurements using materials sourced from originating Merapi. The formula used in study was based on material's d50 diameter parameter. Our analysis indicates equation proposed by Lajeunesse, Malverti, Charru (2010) yields closest results those obtained laboratory.

An exponential formula that does not involve the concept of the critical shear stress is derived in this study for computing bedload transport rates. The formula represents well various experimental data sets ranging from the weak transport to high shear conditions.
